WEDDING MAKEUP FAQ

Do your services include hair?

We don’t provide hair services, but if you require bridal hair in addition to makeup, just ask! We’re happy to refer you to a hairstylist we trust.

How much is a makeup trial?

A bridal makeup trial is currently $150. We don’t require trials, but we highly recommend them so that you wake up knowing exactly what to expect on your wedding day.

Do you offer wedding hair services?

My specialty and focus is on wedding makeup, as I don’t believe anyone can do everything the best. The good news is that I have a strong network of hair stylists that I trust and happy to refer you to.

I have a large group or wedding party that needs makeup; will you bring an assistant and/or additional makeup artists?

I love large groups! If you have five or more people in your CT bridal party, I am happy to bring on additional help to ensure your day is speedy, fun, and fully serviced. I’m flexible and able to serve all party sizes with adequate notice. Final headcount is due at least 3 months prior to the event.

Do you offer wedding makeup trials, and when should I book them?

Yes! Makeup trials are not required but highly recommended. This is your opportunity to see exactly what you want and like, with my guidance. Booking a makeup trial at least 3-6 months before your event is a smart move, but anytime works!

How much does a makeup artist cost for a wedding?

Our pricing starts at $150 for friends and family and $250 for the marrier. Inquire for additional pricing details.

Do I need to sign the contract before our trial?

Due to high demand, it is highly recommended to book your wedding date in advance. However, it is not a requirement. My policy is that in order to hold your date, there is a non-refundable retainer due. Please note that a makeup trial does not hold your date.

Some clients choose to sign the contract during the trial, which is a-ok with me! As of the time of writing this, I’ve never had someone not book during a trial, so it’s whatever makes you most comfortable that works for me.

Once you sign the contract and pay the booking fee, your date is reserved, and you’re booked.

How should I prepare for my makeup trial?

  1. Please arrive on time with a freshly washed, completely clean face (no moisturizer or anything on it). Your skin needs to be squeaky clean, and this is important to help the makeup adhere beautifully. Note: Certain products, like moisturizers and sunscreen, don’t play well with certain color cosmetic products and can cause them to break down, slip, or oxidize. During your trial, I’ll go over more of this with you to prepare you for your big event.

  2. Please bring your favorite lipstick, gloss, or lipstain so I can see what you’re most comfortable in and get a good idea of the shades that make you happy! During your trial, we’ll select your perfect shade and tell you where to buy it so you can reapply during your event.

  3. Wear a white button-down top or shirt and, if you’d like, your veil and/or hair pieces.

  4. During your makeup trial (also known as a makeup preview), I’ll be taking several pictures and videos of you so you can see how gorgeous you look on camera, and we'll make any adjustments for the perfect look.

How long does a makeup trial last, and what happens during it?

Your trial will typically last about 90 minutes, so you get a full consultation, incorporating your unique coloring and desired look. We’ll also talk about skincare and how to best prep your skin leading up to the big day. Last, we’ll review and confirm details for the day of the event, including timing, location, and headcount. It’s ok if you’re not sure of all the details yet, as I checked in with you several times before the big day. Most importantly, you’ll sit back, relax, and enjoy being pampered.

Should I get false lashes?

This is a completely personal preference. My brides always love adding lashes for a little glam. They look stunning in photos and really emphasize the eyes. I do not do lash extensions - falsies only because they are really beautiful and perfect the look. Whether we decide on individual lashes, partial lashes, or strip lashes, you’ll walk away having a hard time not looking at yourself in every mirror you walk by! Don’t worry, I’ll help you decide which lash style is best for your eye shape and ideal look.

I don’t normally wear makeup, and I’m kind of nervous about having my makeup professionally done.

The majority of my clients don’t normally wear much makeup, if any, on a daily basis, so I’m extremely comfortable helping to guide you through the process in a natural, subtle glam way. This is actually one of the things clients love most about my work. But don’t take my word for it; check out my CT bridal makeup reviews and testimonials and see what my past clients and brides have to say.

What’s the difference between airbrush makeup, and which should I choose?

Airbrush makeup is lightweight and long-wearing, but it’s not for everyone. During your trial, we’ll decide which is best for you.

What type of makeup do you use?

I purposely do my best to choose luxury, high-end, high-quality makeup brands that you might not normally get the opportunity to try or use on a daily basis. All are carefully tested on myself first (yes, even through intense gym workouts) and then used on clients over a long period of time, so that I’m confident in their wearability, breathability, and long-lasting, flawless wear.

Some of the consumer makeup brands used include:

  • Yves St Laurent

  • Giorgio Armani

  • Temtpu

  • Rare Beauty

  • Natasha Denona

  • RCMA

  • Christian Dior

  • etc.

Do you have any certifications or licenses?

Yes, I’m a licensed CT esthetician, Temptu Airbrush, and MAC Pro Certified.
